Closed Uterus Surgery

What is Closed Uterus Surgery?

Closed hysterectomy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure called laparoscopic or endoscopic surgery. This method is used to diagnose and treat uterine problems. It is less invasive than traditional surgery, has a lower risk of complications and a faster recovery.

In Which Situations Is Closed Uterus Surgery Performed?

  1. Uterine Fibroids Fibroids in the uterus are a condition that affects a large proportion of women. Closed hysterectomy is an effective method for removing or shrinking fibroids.
  2. Uterine Polyps Polyps in the lining of the uterus can cause problems such as menstrual bleeding or infertility. Polyps can be removed with closed uterine surgery.
  3. Endometriosis Endometriosis, which occurs when tissues outside the uterus settle in the uterus, can be treated with closed uterine surgery.
  4. Adenomyosis Closed hysterectomy may also be preferred in case of adenomyosis in the inner layer of the uterine muscles.

How is Closed Uterus Surgery Performed?

  1. Laparoscopic Surgery: Through small incisions, endoscopic instruments and a camera are used to examine the uterus and surrounding structures and perform the surgery.
  2. Endoscopic Surgery: The inside of the uterus is accessed through endoscopic instruments and the surgical procedure is performed.

Advantages of Closed Hysterectomy

  1. Less Scarring: Since it is performed through small incisions, there is less scarring compared to traditional surgery.
  2. Faster Recovery Process: Since tissue trauma is less, the healing process is faster.
  3. Less Blood Loss: Less blood loss during surgery.
  4. Less Risk of Complications: It carries less risk of complications than conventional surgery.
