Istmosel Treatment

What is Istmosel?

An isthmus is a condition that occurs in the pelvic floor of women. It is caused by a thinness or weakness between the anterior and posterior walls of the uterus. This condition occurs when there is a weakness in the connection between the cervix (neck of the uterus) and the vagina and can cause the uterus to sag downwards.

Symptoms of Istmosel

Isthmosel is usually manifested by the following symptoms:

  • Vaginal pressure or heaviness
  • Vaginal bleeding or discharge
  • Urinary incontinence problems
  • Pain or discomfort during sexual intercourse
  • Visual prolapse of the cervix into the vagina

Istmosel Treatment Methods

  1. Conservative Treatment: Conservative methods such as pelvic floor exercises, physical therapy and lifestyle changes can be used to manage the symptoms of isthmus.

  2. Surgical Treatment: In the case of isthmocele, surgical intervention may be necessary if there are severe symptoms or if conservative treatments are ineffective. Minimally invasive methods such as endoscopic surgery or laparoscopic surgery can be used to treat isthmocele. In this procedure, special nets or surgical materials can be used to support the structures of the uterus and vagina.
